Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have received increasing attention in society in recent years. These molecules are extremely persistent, toxic and accumulate in the environment. Due to the greater accuracy of modern analytical devices, these compounds can now be found almost everywhere.

These molecules are all artificially produced and are used, for example, in non-stick coatings, packaging, fire-fighting foams and dirt-repellent materials.

Depending on the boundary conditions, different processes are used to adsorb PFAS:

– Fixed bed process with granulated activated carbon

– Powder activated carbon process

– In situ injection process with colloidal activated carbon

Our Approach

The different PFAS molecules differ considerably in their size and also in their hydrophobicity, which lead to different capacities. Our experts examine and evaluate each case separately and develop the optimal solution.
