Biogas contains methane which can be used as a renewable energy source. Due to its 24/7 availability, biogas is a perfect alternative source to fossil energy. The use of biogas plays an important role in the energy transition and the circular economy. It helps us to avoid the emission of greenhouse gases in our fight against climate change. Biogas contains CO2 and water, and some impurities that need to be removed before combustion. These impurities are mainly hydrogen sulfide and siloxanes.

Our Solution

Enhanced impregnated activated carbon specifically designed for H2S removal in biogas upgrading plants. These grades will also remove mercaptans. For some projects, a catalytic activated carbon is required. The concentration of H2S can be reduced from within the digestor by using UNIFER iron hydroxide powder. If there is no oxygen present in the biogas, the remaining H2S traces can effectively be removed by using the UNIFER iron hydroxide pellets. For the removal of siloxanes it is recommended to us virgin activated carbon with a low dust content and reduced fines content. This grade will also remove VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).
