For cabin air filters in buildings and cars, the activated carbon is applied to fleece or incorporated into cartridge systems. Due to the requirements defined in certain standards, products based on coconut shells with defined grain size distributions have become established. These are characterized by excellent hardness and high micropore volume, which ensures that pollutants are reliably retained. Both impregnated and non-impregnated activated carbon is used to meet the strict performance requirements for the various pollutants.
Some test gases from DIN 71460 are:
- n-butane
- toluene
- sulfur dioxide
- ammonia
